REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE
FERNANDES II is a 29.10-metre schooner built in 1995 in Türkiye, sister work to FERNANDES but with a different scope: shell renewal and frame and beam strengthening again formed the structural core, alongside repairs to the superstructure and guard rails, and strengthening of the bollards and davit foundation.
Bollards and the davit foundation carry real working loads, mooring forces on the bollards and the weight of tender or equipment handling on the davit, so strengthening them was treated as a structural task rather than a fitting replacement. Superstructure and guard rail repairs were carried out alongside the shell and frame work so the vessel's structural renewal and its visible condition were addressed together rather than in separate passes.
The project was carried out at MMH Shipyard as part of FERNANDES II's 2024 repair and maintenance programme.
They carry real working loads, mooring forces on the bollards and equipment-handling weight on the davit, so the work was treated as structural strengthening rather than a fitting replacement.
Both had shell renewal and frame and beam strengthening, but FERNANDES II's scope added superstructure, guard rail, bollard and davit foundation work instead of a bow rebuild and deck covering.
